M. Sailors, Eva Gilchrist Reviews For TORRID TEASERS Volume 9 by Susan M. Sailors & Eva Gilchrist 4.0 Moons, 4.0 sexual content "House of Fun" is a very unique paranormal romance, which takes place in an interesting world. Ms. Sailors' take on hell is very imaginative, and the relationship between Lisa and Dante is hot and loving. _Reviewed by Marlene Breakfield for Mystique Books "Well-told, with descriptive and evocative imagery, House of Fun will change your mind about the hierarchy of Hell and raise your desire for a Dante of your own."--Michelle, Fallen Angels Review Billet-Doux is a very spicy erotic tale of a woman who is completely unashamed of her sexuality. Alex knows what she wants and goes after it wholeheartedly. The little twist that Ms. Gilchrist gave Billet-Doux’s ending sent this one into the stratosphere! See how the mundane chores of day-to-day life can be instruments of passion in Billet-Doux. Torrid Teasers 9 is a collection of two short stories, each of which is a scorcher in its own right. While not connected by theme or even written by the same author, Billet-Doux and House of Fun each add something special to this anthology. Four Angels! Reviewer: Michelle, Rating: 4 “Billet-Doux”: This is a sizzling hot little number with a very unexpected twist and a satisfying and unforeseen ending. This is an interesting pair of stories, and an intriguing pairing. Both are very different, yet both hold some unexpected and fascinating twists and turns. I recommend this volume, and the series, which introduces the reader to newer authors and stories. Restaurateur Alexandra Gregory is calm, poised and serene in public. But behind closed doors, it is a different story entirely. Alex gets a letter from a young man with whom she had a brief fling. After reading it, she needs the assistance of James, the head chef, to satisfy her sudden hunger. Is he the main course or dessert? This story was sexy and steamy from the first paragraph to the last. Deliciously naughty, yet succulently sweet, Ms Gilchrist seemed to know exactly what to put on the menu. I cannot stress enough how hot this story was. It was definitely torrid, but surely not a teaser as I was supremely satisfied. Jenn Sample Chapter For TORRID TEASERS Volume 9 by Susan M. Sailors & Eva Gilchrist Lisa walked through her front door, set her keys down on the blue and white mosaic coffee table, and sighed. Even though it was midafternoon, she really wanted a cup of coffee. She found her favorite strawberry-print mug in the full dishwasher and was washing the morning’s dregs out of it when she heard a noise from upstairs. She froze and listened carefully. There was another soft thud. Someone was definitely up there, and whoever it was did not seem to care if he or she was heard. She looked around for a weapon of some kind, but then it occurred to her that the front door had been locked. She crept over to the back door, which was also locked. That was when she remembered her leaky bathroom faucet and laughed out loud. She ran upstairs, expecting to see her seventy-five year old landlord, Bob, puttering around in her bathroom. Instead, she found a man in her bedroom. Her bookshelf was a shambles and the man seemed to be looking for something desperately in her Shakespeare anthology. “Hey! What the hell do you think you’re doing?” Lisa cried. He just shook his head without looking at her. His shoulder-length black hair hid his face. “Then I suggest you leave.” She looked around for a weapon, and her lightweight iron was the best she could find. She picked it up and held it out like a gun, not caring if it looked silly and unthreatening. He held his hand up. “I’ll only be another moment.” “What are you doing?” She had to admit she was curious, and she tried to convince herself that it wasn’t because this guy had a great body and nice hair. He put the Shakespeare anthology down and picked up another book. “Looking for an answer.” She jerked the book out of his hands. “Can’t you find one in your own books?” He finally looked at her. His eyes were bright purple. “No. I need one of these.” “Do I have to call the police?” She threw the book down on the bed. “I don’t know how you even got in here.” He began looking through the shelves again and selected a large poetry anthology. “I’ll leave the same way I came. Don’t worry about me.” “Strange guy just randomly pops into my bedroom and says he needs my books to find an answer.” She pulled the book he was looking at out of his hands and got right in his face. “I have to say that I find you a bit worrisome, if that’s okay.” He just stared at her. “Please leave,” she said. The iron in her hand felt useless. This guy didn’t make any sense. She didn’t feel threatened, not really, but that was hardly the point. “The guy across the street has a gun, and he’s just the type to love any opportunity to use it.” He smiled at her and pulled another book from the shelf. “He’d miss me.” It was Lisa’s turn to stare. “Well, he would,” the man insisted. “That’s it! I’m calling the police right now.” She reached for her phone, but it slid off the nightstand, crashing loudly against the wall. The man sighed heavily. “Where are the rest of your books?” She pointed at the phone, trying to keep the fear out of her voice. “How did you do that?” He took her by the shoulders gently. “Lisa, right? Could you please just help me? I promise I’ll leave soon.” She felt calmer with him touching her, but she couldn’t explain why. “Who the hell are you and what do you want?” “I need to find something, and I’m almost certain it’s in one of your books.” He let go of her and looked back to the books. “I think it’s an older one, but I’m not really sure. That’s why I need your help.” A memory flashed across Lisa’s mind. A month before, she’d been in the park and a man had given her a book because she had said the cover was beautiful. Until that very moment, she hadn’t questioned his actions. It was in her nightstand drawer. “What do you need it for?” She wasn’t going to just give it to him or even let him know she had it until she knew what was really going on. “It’s part of my Passage. I have to find it.” She nodded slowly, then rolled her eyes. “It all makes sense now. That was such a clear explanation.” “Just give me my book. I’ll get out of your way immediately.” “I thought you had to find it yourself?” He narrowed his eyes. “I found you, didn’t I? I know it’s here now.” After a moment, she said, “Maybe I threw it away.” “No, you didn’t. I can feel that it’s near.” “Then find it.” She refused to be intimidated, even though she knew it probably wasn’t wise to make this guy angry. He moved very close to her, but didn’t touch her. “Tell me where it is.” She couldn’t take her eyes off him. His eyes were startling, and his intensity sparked heat low in her belly. “Why should I do that?” “Because I’ll kiss you if you don’t.” She tried not to laugh, but she didn’t pull away. “What kind of threat is that?” He remained steady, but she could tell her comment had thrown him off, though she couldn’t imagine how. He finally said, “Because then you’ll have to tell me.” “No, I won’t.” He reached up and toyed with a strand of her hair. “If I kiss you, you will.” “You think you’re that good?” She laughed and stepped back to get away from his touch. “Look, you don’t seem too threatening, so if you need help, I can get someone for you.” “I don’t understand you people.” He turned away as if he was dealing with a stubborn child. |
